Had a great time on 17 Jan 09.
Attended ICA (International Christian Assembly) in North Point. There are many Philipinos, some English speaking Chinese, some English people there. There are three pastors in that church. The worship session is very vibrant...like some people are dancing and jumping... to start with, it was a bit too vibrant for us. The sermon was very good. The pastor's name I forgot...hehe, but he is a singaporean. Can hear him speak some Singalish and make singaporean jokes.
The sermon was about being Light to this world. Matthew 5:14-16.
He cracked some jokes regarding light and one of which is that how many chirasmatic does it need to change a light bulb? Just one as one would already had his hand up in the air.... ^__^ got it?
There are many types of light a Christian can be. There is the...
Christmas light - once a year christian
Candle light - strong when inside, weak when being placed in storm
On/Off light - on and off, not consistent, i.e.luke warm
Spot light - good at small area but very bright
light house - good a variety of things but not strong light
reflective light - Christian are called to be reflective of Jesus' light.
Light are mend to be placed on the lamp stand to light up the whole house, not to be placed under a bowl. It is only placed under the bowl when the family is not at home, not at home so the candle light won't burn the house. However, we are in the house of God, therefore light should be on the lamp stand. Why is it under the bowl so no one can see the light? This bowl can be shyness, can be fear, self centreness, own schudual, own plans. Being a good witness is not about you or the other, it is solely about Jesus!
The sermon is good as it inspires and remimnds people about God's word...
As the worship and sermon time were conducted in English, so I am quite comfortable with it. Next Sunday, shall try out the Evagelical church in YMCA in Tsim Sha Tsui which is also conducted in English. Sham Shui Po's Cheung Sha Wan church is also good. Shall try to attend next next Sunday... ^__^
